As dreary and rainy as my visit in May 2008 was, it conversely made for a great opportunity to capture the City in a very simple and stoic manner.

Captured from the BrooklynHeights Promenade. After walking over the BrooklynBridge and grabbing a hotdog at the pier, I proceeded to start down Furman St (next to the BrooklynQueens Expressway, BQE) ...dumb idea. There is no spectacular view from Furman at the docks level. Seeing folks walking along the Promenade a hundred feet above me, I realized it would be a loooong walk to circumnavigate the BQE. But as you see well worth it!

I'm really looking forward to painting this one due to the challenge of maintaining a uniform dull hue which is not exactly easy to do.

It includes: The docks in Brooklyn Heights, the East River and ferries, the Statue of Liberty, Ellis Island (off in the faint distance), Lower Manhattan, Lower East Side, the Brooklyn Bridge, the Empire State Building (off in the faint distance), and a lonely pedestrian walking the Promenade.
